The Walther Model 8 was introduced in 1920, as the first post-war model. Stylish design of the pistol and its modern look meant an immediate success on a gun market. The Model 8 was a small pocket pistol with total length just 5 inches. Production of the Walther P8 lasted from approximately 1920 to the end of World War II and meant a great commercial success with 500,000 produced pieces. The Model 8 was widely used during World War II by SS, staff officers and as a backup gun by tank crewmen and aviators. In 1925, design of the pistol was influenced also in Czechoslovakia. It had Czech proofs on the frame, the left slide and 90% finish wit patina. The Walther model 8 is the last single-action-only pistol that varies to target pistols. It had a blowback mat design with a concealed hammer and was produced in .25 ACP caliber. The Model P8 ensured six patents on several features, including the trigger guard that doubled as a takedown ratchet, the hammer axle security, attachment methods of the grips by medallions, and segregated breech block with integral firing and extractor. It typified a precursor of later Walther PP. The Walther Model P8 contained more features that were revolutionary for that period and meant the beginning of the new modern Walters' era.
